The Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly-growing network of connected items that interact to sense and communicate information. This adds substantial economic value in areas such as asset utilization, supply chain/logistics, employee productivity, security, and customer experience.
Active devices such as PCs or smart phones connect to the IoT via electronics that are integrated within. But passive items such as product packaging, printed media, or security documents can only connect via RFID labels that must be added on. This adds excessive cost and often impacts the host item's thickness, flexibility, reliability, and security.
Uniqarta is addressing this with proprietary manufacturing technologies that accommodate small, ultra-thin ICs and their inclusion within common materials such as paper or plastic. The result is a class of Smart Materials that eliminate the need for RFID label add-ons and accelerate the IoT evolution.
