Insituto de Investigación Agropecuaria
The Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) of Chile is the state agency for agricultural research and development. It is the main agricultural research institution in Chile, with more than 50 years of experience. INIA was created on August 8, 1964 as a corporation under private law and dependent on the Ministry of Agriculture. Its first director was Manuel Elgueta Guerín.1 The founding partners of INIA are the Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP), CORFO, Universidad de Chile, Universidad Católica and Universidad de Concepción.
