The focus of our research is on smart sensor systems for measuring chemical quantities and for industrial process monitoring. In the area of chemical sensors, we primarily address the gas phase, but also liquids and use both chemical and physical sensor effects. We combine (micro) sensors with microelectronics for operation and data acquisition as well as with adapted signal processing concepts to create complex measuring systems. One focus is on the development of automatable machine learning methods in order to extract the desired, physically interpretable information from complex sensor patterns. The main fields of application are quality control, environmental and safety technology, renewable energies / energy efficiency and the condition monitoring of mechatronic systems
